Hello friend!
Happy new month — it is the Detty month!
I am super excited not only because this is the last month but because…guess what? I am back on Earth
! Yea, you read that right. Please don’t ask me for what I brought; I went to Mars for work not shopping. You gat that right?
But trust me, staying on MARS. WAS. FUN. The experiences!
You may wonder why I titled today’s Newsletter Admonition, have a seat, order a drink on my card (no one does not know my name) and let’s ride.
——————————————————————————————————
Sweet, it’s another month in 2020 (I know you sigh too), you know, a lot of broadcast messages popped up on my phone between 6 am till 12 pm on the 1st of this month, however, one thing was evident in all these messages “the last month of the year.”
Each of these messages as this line like a tag that I begin to wonder if preceding months do not really have many things to offer us (you also thought as much…) But trust me, it’s the last month of the year and it has been so rough from the beginning; talking about Coronavirus pandemic, lockdown, loss of jobs, protests, strikes (urrgghhh) but despite all these odds, some people seem not affected by this and it made me recalled the dog and tortoise fable — (you really want to hear it?)
So here is it, story-story….once upon a time >> common we are not even kids anymore but………time-time..yasssss I love to reply that.
In the year of famine in the animal kingdom, everyone was thinner except the Dog. The Dog was as fat as a big drum and he lived outskirt the kingdom. Since you all know that Tortoise is jobless, one day while walking around he saw the Dog being as fresh as just-made-bread (please don’t salivate)
then tortoise asked “yo man, whatsup. See as you fresh. Tell me the secret now?” Dog whispered into Tortoise’s hear and on the second day, early morning, Tortoise learn the Dog’s secret.
The story is more than that, but hey! pay me to tell you the full story…yes, that’s how we roll, not like eggroll—-arrghh
Okay. The lesson here is the secret of how Dog is getting fatter despite the kingdom’s famine. And here I am, telling you or reiterating what you have read before about things you are not doing perhaps getting wrong.
Please have another bottle on my credit card.
These five secrets are (nooooo not what dog told tortoise..common!) are how you can get it right or readjust to getting it right.
1. Preach yourself
A fine building does not struggle for recognition, once said by a wise man which is me of cause. Think about yourself, have you been preaching yourself enough? The world has turned to a digital village where you can connect with everyone anywhere including Mars, yea. Just by tapping send, like, comment, connect, follow, or add on your phone. How do you use the medium you have to preach yourself? When a school opens for the first time, they go on various advertisement including local, TV, Radio, Social media or any other means to preach the school to the environment and outside. You are an embodiment of unique features, LET OTHER PEOPLE KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING! Don’t hoard yourself, share your ideas. Do you write? Let others know. Do you design? Let others know. Do You code? Let others know. Don’t wait until perfection, after all, humans are insatiable of perfection.
2. Join your community
You can be the best in what you are doing but be getting low recognition. (Noooooooo..it’s not your village people) it’s you! Let me tell you a story…
There used to be two men who grew up from infant to adulthood. They have always been a best friend. One is a Plumber while the other is a Carpenter. Both of them were good in their career and exposed with fascinating ideas. But there was but while the Plumber made friends with other Plumber friends, the Carpenter made friends with Mechanics. When I mean friends, I am also referring to the community. While Plumber blossom in his career, Carpenter was GROWING.
Note the difference (Blossom and Growing) You are also imagining where you are getting it wrong now? Find your community, join them and see the recognition you deserve. After all, wolves are powerful in packs than staying alone.
3. Exposure
Your friend whom both of you is learning graphics design is getting more gigs even from international level yet you are not getting even from your street, yet you wonder what may be wrong? A popular verse in the scripture goes thus “my people perish due to lack of knowledge.” Exposure is very important in every aspect of yourself, it will tailor you on how to relate, address, and even respond to things with enough wisdom and intellectual qualifications. Sometimes, this exposure will only cost you hours – yes, hours…you heard right! But trust me, this will go on a long way for you not only as a skilled person but as an individual in your area of expertise.
4. Get a Skill
2020 has shown me some facts, I have never wanted to reckon with, you can read my skill acquisition story here. The country is messed up, trust me, unlike 30 years ago when your job waits for you even before you graduate now, statistically, the grounded graduates are more than the amount of job on the ground. From plenty of farms but little farmers, it has turned to plenty of farmers but little farms. So how can you bypass this circle, I suggest you should be skilled.
Getting skill may sound somehow, I mean, a whole you, a first-class student now learning something — think about it, man! — but on another phase, there is nothing to think of than a good opportunity for you to grab. Learning a skill does not stop you from doing your white-collar job after all, despite Jesus being the son of God, he still took the form of a man. (Now think about that!)

5. Execute your ideas
I could have said lastly, but let’s not go the old way…okay?
Now……., Lastly, (hahahahahahahaha…I know I got you!) August Alsina in his song with Rick Ross said something that has become part of me “Nothing last forever” I know it’s a cliché but I love the voice in which he rapped it. Yo! Yo! Yo! Yo! Yo! That’s the beat.
You know you have ideas, then begin to execute it. It took me four months to published my first Newsletter, thanks to Gloria but I rued it now that I have not started earlier. Ideas WON’T LAST FOREVER. Ideas are muse/inspiration, and in antonyms there is PROCRASTINATION. Procrastination will give you reasons not to execute your ideas (fear, what will people say, money, audience…blah, blah, blah)
but here is the real deal, the moment you execute your ideas, the moment you surmount the first step! Who told you that your voice won’t be reckoned with? Who told you that you are nothing? Who told you that your idea is shit? It is high time you got the ideas executed and see the results. Remember, bigger things are built on little foundations.
